Applique Vase

This rectangular raku vase provides a stunning example of the dazzling luster that can be produced by a skilled artisan. The cobalt blue luster frames applied texture ribbons that are created by rolling hand-carved pattern balls over thin sheets of clay which are then trimmed and attached to the surface of the vase. Retaining the unfinished edge of the production slab and carefully incorporating it into the finished piece creates the rough organic texture of the rim of the vase.
