Applique Vase

This rectangular raku vase provides a wonderful example of the dazzling luster that can be produced by a skilled artisan. The copper-jade luster frames applied texture ribbons that are created by rolling hand-carved pattern balls over thin sheets of clay which are then trimmed and attached to the surface of the vase. The rim of the vase is further textured using the pattern ball to unite the piece’s decorative motifs.
