Applique Vase

This rectangular raku vase provides a stunning example of the dazzling luster that can be produced by a skilled artisan. The cobalt blue luster frames applied texture ribbons that are created by rolling hand-carved pattern balls over thin sheets of clay which are then trimmed and attached to the surface of the vase. Extending the textured applique above the level of the rim creates a sense of drama and elegance in this lovely piece.
